Who's behind Love Your Longevity
Love Your Longevity is the work of Linda Mac Dougall and MacDougall Consulting for Disabilities.
Linda has spent her career advocating for people who could not easily advocate for themselves. She holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and has worked with the developmentally disabled population since high school, including more than a decade as administrator of two group homes for United Cerebral Palsy. After moving to Hawaii she became a federal advocate for families of developmentally disabled individuals, work that led to formal studies, a medical review board, and changes in how state guardians approached their responsibilities.
Her focus has since shifted to seniors. She works as a senior health advocate, massage therapist, holistic health practitioner and management consultant for caregiving situations, and is the author of The SPIRIT Method of Massage for Seniors: Raising the Bar. She is a senior herself.
Families are asked to make decisions about care homes with very little usable information, usually under time pressure and often in the middle of a crisis. The public record exists, but it is scattered and hard to read. Love Your Longevity puts that record on a map, and gives families the documents they need to ask for things in writing and keep track of what happens next.
